PAEDIATRIC ENT SERVICES

Professor Coates will still be consulting, but Mr Bumbak  will be performing all surgical procedures as Professor Coates is very keen to concentrate mainly on ear health, as he continues the work for which he has received humanitarian and national awards.

This Practice provides paediatric ENT services only (up to 16 years for existing patients and 14 years for new patients). Diseases and conditions of the ear, nose and throat are treated, as well as conditions affecting the lower airways and oesophagus. Particular interests of this practice include congenital hearing loss, glue ear and obstructive sleep disorder secondary to tonsil and adenoid enlargement. Research interests include otitis media with effusion (OME) or ‘glue ear’, Universal Neonatal Hearing Screening and Aboriginal children’s ear disease.

Paediatric Otolaryngologists (ENT Specialists) provide medical and surgical care to infants and children, who have common, complicated and often rare diseases and disorders. Infants are not just “small adults” – at every age they are different, requiring an understanding of the anatomic, physiologic and psychologic changes that occur with their growth and development. We take care of “special” problems and children who have “special” needs.
